My favorite spot to grab a burger in Chicago is DMK Burger Bar. Located at Sheffield and Wellington in Lakeview, DMK opened its doors in November with innovative burgers and mouth-watering sides (Wisconsin cheese fries anyone?!) I'd say it's an upscale burger bar with a casual feel. There are 12 burgers on the menu - here's a little taste:
No. 1 - Aged Cheddar, Smoked Bacon, Charred Balsamic Red Onions, Rufus Teague’s BBQ Sauce No. 7 - Fried Green Tomato, Olive Tapenade, Lemony Red Onions, Piquillo Peppers, Herb Ranch
No. 8 - De Mill Farm’s American Cheese, Iceberg Lettuce, Tomato, Raw Onion, Bread & Butter Pickles, Mayo (for those of you who want a typical burg)
No. 9 - Organic Turkey / Arugula, Tomato, Cucumber, Blue Cheese Coleslaw (my personal favorite - it is soooo good!)
No. 11 - House Veggie & Grain / Laura Chenel’s Goat Cheese, Sun-Dried Tomato, Basil PestoR
Their sides are awesome - sweet potato fries with a tobasco aioli, truffle fries, mac & cheese with gruyere and bacon. . .ahhhh.
And how can I forget about the beer?! They have a huge selection of over 30 hand-crafted beers from various breweries - Goose Island, Half Acre, Three Floyds and New Belgium to name a few.
The cute part about this spot is its appeal to different crowds. I've been on a Saturday night with a group of friends and the place is buzzing with 20 and 30somethings getting ready for a night out. And just this past Sunday afternoon it was hopping with families and kids - who were probs there for DMK's thick malt milkshakes - yum!
