La Ti Ti

Thanks to L, I will now have my TiVo set to Orpah on October 29.

Oprah will be hosting a Sound of Music REUNION! ! !


For those of you who do not know, my sisters and I are beyond obsessed with the Sound of Music. And I, in particular am obsessed with Friedrich.

That one.

I am just so excited to see how well Friedrich has aged (HA) - he is now 60 years old. Eeeeek.

According to the report, "It's been 45 years since the cast had such a reunion, and they plan on dishing about behind-the-scenes dirt from the "Music" set and what they've been up to since their Oscar-winning movie was released."

Can't wait to hear all this DIRT!

Also, I am working on my group of friends being the Sound of Music children for Halloween. . .I'll let you know how that goes. I am convinced my roommate E would make the best Gretl since she's the littlest of our bunch. . .and I think I'd want to be Brigitta because she's kind of a brat and I like that.

Oh nooo.

Our favorite late night place is closing on Thursday. Where the heck will I go now for my cheeseburger hoagie?!

First, Smoke Shack closed it's doors (well, actually, the city closed Smoke Shack's doors because it didn't pass inspection. EW. Ew ew ew ew ew. Whenever I pass that place, I get queasy just thinking about how many times I ate there - sometimes sober - and how gross it must have been back in that kitchen. Barf.), and now Hoagie Hut? Fortunately though, Hoagie isn't closing for cleanliness issues. They're just moving on.

Gossip Girl Recap: How Do We Know What Matters If Gossip Girl Isn’t Around to Tell Us?

Some highlights:

• Blair in that brown dress looks like she’s starved herself for two weeks for the first day of school. Real. Plus 5.

• Eva has non-famous, normal-person teeth. Plus 2.

• Milo’s face when they are talking about foster care. Plus 5.

• Also, they wear those giant keys around their necks all the time? Do Pi Kappa Alpha girls wear tiny kegs of booze around their necks, like St. Bernards? No. At least they would at least have had Tiffany make nice, demure key necklaces or something. Minus 8.

• Even though they have a whole house, the Hamilton House happy hour is conducted on the steps of the school. While we appreciate the retro Constance Billiard reference, no matter how pretty you are, the police don’t let you just drink martinis at the Franz Sigel sculpture. Minus 5.

• "Once men have tasted caviar it baffles me how they settle for catfish," Blair says when she and Serena see Nate kissing Juliet. Ew. What? Why? Why not, "tasted Bordeaux/settle for Yellowtail"? Or "flown first class/settle for coach." Or even, "eaten Oreos/settled for Hydrox"? Anything but a fish metaphor. Minus 2.

Nice Little Sunday.

For me, Sundays normally consist of brunch, working out, (attempting to) play golf, laundry, hanging out, shopping, errands, etc. Pretty low key normally, and that's the way I like it. This past Sunday, however was quite different than that.

P and I were invited by P's roommate JD and his girlfriend JM to a wine tasting at Tasting deVine in Wheaton. We took the Metra out in the morning (and actually almost missed the train. . .apparently 10:42 a.m. was a little too early for this group after a Trolley Party the night before. . .), brunched at Egg Harbor, and spent the rest of the afternoon at this cute wine shop on the main drag in Wheaton. Wheaton is one sleepy little town, especially on a Sunday morning. . .but we weren't there to hang out in Wheaton - we were there to drink DUH! Ha.

We started out with the whites: Chenin Blanc, Riesling and Viognier. I am not really a white wine drinker (but I do looooove my reds), so I ended up pouring a good portion of my white into P's glass. Oops.

For the reds, we tasted the winery's Syrah (my favorite of the bunch!), Cabernet-Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon.

This wine shop was unique because their grapes come from all over the country, yet all the wines are made at one winery in Roselle, Illinois.

All in all, I highly recommend spicing up your Sunday with a midday wine tasting. Greatttt way to get into the work week.

Oops!

Ok so I am guilty as charged. Not only have I been MIA from COTPG, but I have been MIA from GChat all together! My B.

I am in the middle of moving, so have been spending my last 7 days popping Aleve every 4-6 hours and Ambien at roughly 9 pm. Seriously. It has been that stressful. (I have literally (shout out to Rachel Zoe) spoken to R ONCE in the last 7 days. Sorry R, let's try and catch up today perhaps?? Right after I go to Bed Bath and Beyond and purchase a lifetime supply of storage bags and Swiffer pads...)

Now that leases are signed and boxes are packed, the headache should be subsiding (just popped 3 Aleve). Until then, I am going back into hibernation! See you in the spring (kidding).
